Marvel Pulls a Fast One With Their "4" Tease

Fandom has a very interesting way of taking something that has absolutely no sources backing it and turning it into something that the fans believe to be the "truth."

Take, for example, this tweet that Marvel Entertainment sent out a few days ago:

Nothing here suggesting that Marvel was going to adapt the canceled Spider-Man 4 Raimi film into a comic. However, that's what the internet decided to run with.  And as with most rumors that are born on the interwebz, people convinced themselves that this was the truth.

It turns out that this teaser was a countdown, so it put to rest any of the Spider-Man 4 or Spider-Man/Fantastic Four rumors.

So what was the big reveal?

Well, it turns out there is a new Spider-Man series incoming, written by JJ Abrams and his son, Henry Abrams.

A bit of a letdown, sure...but only if you drank the hype juice.
